This festival is celebrated in different ways in different states of India, especially in Gujarat, this festival is celebrated by flying kites.

When is makar sankranti ?

This festival is celebrated on the day the Sun enters Capricorn in the month of Pausha. In the present century, this festival falls only on the fourteenth or fifteenth day of the month of January, on this day the Sun leaves Sagittarius and enters Capricorn.

 

Makar Sankranti festival is celebrated in which state

The festival of Makar Sankranti is celebrated with different names and in different ways in different states across India. In the central region of India, it is celebrated as Makar Sankranti.
In Tamil Nadu it is known as a festival called Pongal whereas in Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh it is simply called Sankranti. In some districts of Bihar, this festival is also famous by the name ‘Tila Sankranti’. At some places the festival of Makar Sankranti is also called Uttarayan.
From January 14 onwards, the Sun starts moving towards the north. This is the reason why this festival is also called ‘Uttarayan’ (Sun moving towards the north). Scientifically, the main reason for this is the bending of the Earth from north to south after a continuous period of 6 months. And this is a natural process.

On this festival, bathing in Tirtharaj Prayag and Gangasagar has been termed as Mahasnan. Generally, Sun affects all the zodiac signs, but the entry of Sun in Cancer and Capricorn is very fruitful from the religious point of view. This entry or transition process occurs at an interval of six months. The country of India is located in the Northern Hemisphere. Generally, all the dates of the Indian calendar system are determined based on the movement of the Moon, but Makar Sankranti is determined based on the movement of the Sun. Our holy Vedas, Bhagwat Geeta Ji and the Constitution of the Supreme God say that if we take initiation from a complete saint and worship the One Supreme God, then He will make this earth a heaven and fulfill all your wishes.
